Patrick Kane and Jakub Voracek, who switched teams in an off-season trade, played against their former team Monday when Zurich beat Minsk 5-1. Neither stood out too much, although each man were credited with one assist. It was the first of 11 games to be played in the first 10 days of the season that have players playing against their Season 4 teams.
Here are the four biggest homecomings:
Thursday: Kevin Dallman, now of Gothenburg, returns to Moscow to play Spartak and two of Gothenburg’s stars from last year, namely Ryan Suter and Blake Wheeler.
Saturday: John Tavares and Claude Giroux were traded for each other and will line up against each other when Lisbon travels to Edinburgh.
Next Tuesday: Thomas Vanek and Derek Roy left Milan as free agents during the off season, but they’ll both be back as members of the Helsinki Jokerit.
Next Wednesday: Tim Thomas, now wearing a Copenhagen sweater, will face his old Dublin Fighting Irish teammates. Brian Elliott, now of Dublin, will do the same. The game will be played in Denmark.
