Helsinki center Paul Stastny has been suspended for one game in connection with a match penalty he received Tuesday when he checked James Van Riemsdyk from behind.
The Dublin forward went heavily into the boards near the Helsinki bench and emerged with a knee injury. Sepp Blatter, the league’s Director of Player Safety and Discipline, said he look into the incident and met with the general managers of Dublin and Helsinki, who both willingly contributed to the investigation.
“Both Gayle and Trevor were forthcoming with their opinions and both contributed to the discussion. Trevor contributed enough, in fact, to keep the suspension limited to one game. It was a real pleasure doing business with him.”
