Belfast 4, Milan 1 – The Giants used a combination of great penalty killing, superb goaltending and a suffocating dump and chase game to send 16,696 Italians into the streets of Milan frustrated. It was the only game in the league Sunday. Jonathan Quick looked smooth in net saving 33 Milan shots and Belfast got pucks past Andrew Hammond four times before Milan coud score its first. Belfast defenseman Justin Faulk was the only player with a multi-point game, as he assisted on goals by Matt Duchene and James Neal, the game’s first two tallies. Milan was excellent at shot blocking in the game, as they blocked 12 Belfast shots. The Giants are now two points out of first place in the league, but leader Minsk has a game in hand over them. Milan will finish 7th in the South and will face either Berlin or Lisbon in the first round of the playoffs.
