Madrid 5, Milan 4 (OT-SO) – The Royals didn’t care if they won in regulation or overtime, just so long as they got the two points. The win in Italy vaulted Madrid into first place in the Southern Conference, although they could return to third place if Bratislava gets a point against eithr Berlin or Milan. The second period of Thursday’s game was a head-scratcher because Milan outshout Madrid 13-8, but Madrid scored three times to Milan’s one in the period. The score was 4-1 before Jaden Schwartz gotone through Robin Lehner to make it more interesting. And in the third period, Milan’s Marcus Kruger and Schwartz again scored to tie it and send it to overtime. In that five-minute extra period, Milan was all over Madrid, outshooting them 7-1, but Lehner held the fort and in the shootout, Kyle Okposo scored for the Guyierriero, but Madrid win with goals by Derek Stepan and Blake Wheeler. Shea Weber scored a goal and was plus two for the Royals.
