There were not too many records set by teams or players in Season 7, but Matt Duchene really left his mark.
The Belfast Giants forward finished as a plus 75, the best plus/minus season – by far – that anyone has had in the league’s history. He shattered the old record of plus 62, which was set last year by Minsk’s Patrick Kane. Duchene’s teammate Nathan MacKinnon had the next-best rating this season at plus 59.
Another Giant, goalie Jonathan Quick tied the league record for lowest goals against average at 2.12 per game. Carey Price of Minsk set that mark last season.
The only other record was Jonathan Toews’ 62.7 percent winning percentage on faceoffs, which bettered the 61.8 percent record he set in Season 4. Toews has been a member of the Bratislava Eagles his entire seven-year career.
